The origin of the NOMAD Tracker is based on user feedback and our desire to provide the easiest-to-use, most portable, inexpensive star tracker.

Difference between NOMAD and MSM Rotator:

  1. Improved attachment points. The previous manufacturing tolerances were fine for Astro-landscape but deep-sky needs a firmer foundation.

    1. The MSM Rotator, due to its design, required specific weight positioning to keep the ball head secure; this has been completely eliminated.

    2. The laser now screws into the tracker eliminating any chance of wobble.

    3. The industry standard quick-release plate on the bottom is secured in 2 places preventing any twisting of the tracker on its mount.

  2. Improved load capacity.

    1. The hardware has been built to withstand twice the amount of torque as the MSM Rotator.

    2. Where the MSM Rotator was only designed for wide-angle Astro-landscape, the NOMAD has been designed with wide-field deep-sky use in mind.

    3. Availability of an optional counterweight system for more experienced users to go even deeper.

  3. Simplified operation.  By designing and building a device with a narrower focus we were able to make it better while keeping the size down.

    1. One 3-position switch; Northern hemisphere, Southern, or Off.

    2. In order to improve on our goals of ease of use and portability, the non-tracker function of the MSM Rotator has been left off, greatly simplifying the operation of the new tracker.

    3. The NOMAD is focused on one function, star tracking.   (NOMAD does not have timelapse mode)

  4. Reduced size and weight.  A foremost feature of our trackers is portability.

    1. Our users take our trackers with them even when backpacking to some of the most remote areas of the world.

    2. We worked to make storing and transporting the tracker even easier so you'll always want to have it with you when traveling.

    3. The tracker is called NOMAD for a reason; it is designed to travel with you wherever you go.

The Best Portable Star Tracking Solution for Everyone

For novices, we want it to be the best easy-to-use star tracker;

For experienced astrophotographers, we want it to be the most travel-friendly tracker.

But, if users want the old Timelapse functionality, then we may be able to provide pre-orders of the MSM rotator. We’re sorry, but we can not strengthen the star tracker ability and time-lapse ability at the same time. The hardware requirements for improving both of these functions are contradictory.

Great! Wunderbar!

Belichtungszeit ! WOWWOWWOW!!!!

Shooting for the stars

I have been enjoying the Monad very much. It is very easy and simple to setup. I have shot the milky way, and Orion Nebula. Looking to shooting it when it gets up earlier. I will be shooting the Milky Way in the spring get a better pic. I love the easy up on the fly. Well worth the investment.

NOMAD star tracker

I ordered the NOMAD star tracker thinking it would be a nice diversion from my other photography. I'm new to night sky photography. I was pleasantly surprised to see how user friendly and quick it is to set up. Even more I'm EXTRIMELY PLEASED with the results I'm getting using the Nomad. This thing is FUN to use. Iv captured several Milky Way pano's leaving me with a grin from ear to ear...I did that...with a little help from Move-Shoot-Move Nomad that is. I have Zero regrets and recommend the Nomad highly. Ya...I'm hooked.

Excellent Compact Star Tracker

This is a fantastic star tracker that is in such a compact form factor. The build quality is excellent and is perfect for traveling especially when you are hiking off the beaten path to get a great astro shot. The battery life is excellent and while I have not tried it in cold weather yet it has gone several hours for me. The mount is very stable and secure. A tiny issue would be during assembly and take down there is a good possibility that the cover screw to the polar alignment mount could be lost. Also, since most of the pieces are painted black or dark colors, at night this becomes a problem with assembly. But, this is a very minor issue and usually I have pre-assembled most of the mount in the light. Also, for the activation switch it would be nice to have the labels for north and south more prominently painted in glow-in-the-dark paint or bright white. I already made the mistake of pushing the switch accidentally the wrong way to the south polar alignment and of course that did not work.

Overall, this is a great star tracker that is super compact, well built, and great price.

Works as expected.

Supereasy to setup, tracking, especially with wider lenses works flawless. I set it up and only used the laser to point it at the north star and was able to get 250sec exposures without startrailing. Tried it with a 135mm lens and 60sec exposure and again, most of the frames where perfectly tracked. Just a joy to use this small device, especially when the backpack is already fully loaded with other gear.
