Why do I need it?
Actually, there are many cases when laser pointers or polar scopes are not possible in field, so polar alignment with phone apps is quite convenient from this aspect and a phone mount is in need then.
Here are some common situations when you would like to use it:
in countries like Australia and Switzerland where laser pointers are mostly banned
when buildings, mountains, etc. blocking the sky ahead of you that you could not point to Polaris
in locations such as airports and observatories where laser pointers are not allowed

This option is for preorder, it should be ready around 15th Dec.
1) Please remove the red cap on the backside of NOMAD first
2) Attach the phone mount adapter to the backside of NOMAD by the red cap

4) Attach your phone to the Phone mount holder, align the edges of phone to the edges of NOMAD
5) Use apps like Stellarium or Photopills to find the alignment target Polaris/ NCP Northern Hemisphere or SCP for the Southern Hemisphere.
6) Follow the arrow guide of the app then adjust the setup for polar alignment
For MSM tracker:
Please use the 3/8 screw coming with the tracker to attach the phone mount to the bubble level side.
Mount the Phone Mount to the Rotator, your phone to the Phone Mount.
Open a planetarium app and go to its AR feature, look for North/South Pole(depends on the hemisphere you're in) with the app.
4. Adjust your setup's gesture until your phone is aligned with polar on the app.
There you go, ready to shoot!

Too easy to polar align!
A really straightforward process made even easier by this phone mount. The redesigned wedge and phone bracket make it possible to setup for taking long exposure images in the southern hemisphere, something that I have always found challenging to do. Well worth the purchase as an addition to my kit.

Excellent product
Excellent product but a fairly steep learning curve to get proficient. Light enough to carry around. It would be helpful to have instructions included when you buy it. I'd recommend it to Astro photography beginners.

Nomad Tracker and phone mount.
It is light weight. It is quite straight forward to use the phone mount to polar align with Polaris. Using a 135mm lens to shot and was able to get some good images of the Orion Nebula. Easy and quick to charge the Nomad and the battery charge is able to last for my imaging session.

Mount fits great!
Also download Stellarium for your phone to easily find Polaris, and then line it up with the circle (in the app).

Nomad blocks polar scope
The polar alignment laser is blocked by the camera, requiring one to mover the camera side, then moving it back causes the alignment to be off. The old MSM tracker works fine.

Phone mount
I am in the southern hemisphere and this tool makes it so much easier to polar align using my phone. Great for if there is a bit of cloud about too.
