I ordered this because it has the hot shoe mount and i thought it would be great for getting close to targets of interest in the night sky, using the laser as a guide.
It does work for this purpose once you make sure you have lined up the mount to the direction your camera lens is pointed. I found this to be a bit difficult because i have large hands and fingers and the clamp wheel for locking down the mount to the hot shoe is a bit small in diameter and i found it hard the get tight, i had to use some needle nose pliers to sinch it down where it wouldn't move easily.
It seemed to be missing a plastic screw, that is used for tightening down the laser in the mount. Not a problem though, they're easily replaceable.
I know this is meant for the MSM Tracker only, but it is great for use as a guide on your camera also.
I like all of the MSM products i have bought so far and this is the first time i did not give 5 stars. Just because it does seem like the hot shoe tightening wheel could be a bit wider in circumference so as to get better purchase with your fingers.

Mount is very well made and finished. Straight sided openings for scope and pointer make accurate alignment easier. Greater width allows a more secure attachment to the tracker.

My first try with MSM was last month during New Moon. After a recon trip, I spent an evening/night shooting the Milky Way and Perseids. MSM was amazing - easy to set up and worked perfectly - got the shots I wanted. Thanks!!

I recently picked up the Z-mount and lens warmer to go with my Move Shoot Move tracker that I have been using and loving for the last year. For a light weight and easy to use tracker I recommend the MSM tracker to my astrophotography students. Nothing I have used is as easy to polar align and start using than the MSM.

This mount does the job of holding the laser pointer and polar scope just perfectly.

This is much better for my use than the older standard mount delivered with the MSM. It is easy to clamp to the MSM with the nylon screw. The polar scope fits completely into one part of the mount, leaving the other part for the laser. Very nice.

What a technically superior solution to mounting the polar scope in same position consistently!

To be able to use the MSM in the best possible way you absolutely need this accessory. Improved compared to the previous one, easier to use. In short, it cannot be missing in the astrophotography kit

The universal mount for polar scope and pointer does the job perfectly. It holds both the polar scope and lazer good and stable. After a quick alignment with the lazer, Polaris is visible in the polar scope for fine tuning. Keeps these accessories safe and tidy on one side of the MSM. Recommended!

This is a great addition to your MSM kit. It makes polar alignment fast by using the laser to get aligned with Polaris and then easily fine tune the alignment with the scope.
